We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Environmental Advocates of New York.

The short explanation of this alert was:
The Indian Point nuclear power plant, which includes two reactors, should be closed and decommissioned. Twenty-one million people live within a 50-mile radius of Indian Point, 8% of the population of the entire U.S. In the event of a nuclear accident or terrorist attack, millions of people could be exposed to radiation. Meanwhile, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has cited Indian Point 2 for severe safety violations more often than any other nuclear plant in the nation. Urge Governor Pataki to protect New Yorkers from potential disaster at these risky reactors by shutting them down.
